I finally got the Webcam working. You can see it in the side bar on my Blog page. I will turn it on while I am working so you can see how the TSPFRR is coming along. Keep checking back to see what I am up to!
I read or heard somewhere that you should work on your hobby every day you can. Even if it is only for 10 min. Well I decided to work on the Website today. I had to figure out how to add a Favorite Link so you can see some of my favorite web sites. I think I have figured it out.
I have also been looking into inventory. I have several pieces of rolling stock I need to keep track of. On one of my previous layouts, I looked at using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to keep track of the cars on the layout. I went as far as buying tags and programming a reader so as the cars rolled over them, I could update a database. That is before I stared using the Raspberry Pi. I am now going to see if I can implement this on my current layout, but use a Raspberry Pi for the database. Then I may try to use this for signaling. I will keep you up to day on how this goes.
I started painting the rocks. I used the technique that was described as the leopard technique. It is where you dot the rocks with one color then fill in the reset with another, then wash with black. I used Woodland Scenic Burnt Umber (C122), Yellow Ocher (C1223) and Black (C1220). I think I would have saved money by using cheaper paint from Michaels or something but it was the first time so I was following instructions. I did water down the paint to make more of a wash. Tell me what you think.
I am working on the river today. I am adding the rock wall to the side of the river. Once added, I will color the rocks so they look more natural.
I am currently working on a web cam for the site. This is a still that is taken every few minutes when I am working in the room. I am using the Raspberry PI camera and a Raspberry pi to take and upload the pictures. You can see the pictures in the right sidebar.
